Tourists banned for 3 months in Sundarbans!

All types of tourism will be banned for three months in the Sundarbans. Forest department has started work to prohibit tourism from June to August on the occasion of wildlife breeding season. 

The officials of the Eastern Sundarbans division already sent a proposal in this regard to the forest department.

Mahmudul Hassan, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Eastern Sundarbans Division, confirmed the information. It will be operative from next year if their proposal is approved, he said. 

However, Khulna Zone Conservator of Forests (CF) Md Amir Hossain Chowdhury said, discussion or meetings at different stages will be held before the ban on tourism at any fixed period. After that, the action may be taken according to the ministry's decision. 

Md Mahmudul Hassan said that initiatives have been taken to ban all types of tourists during the breeding season, to ensure the safe breeding of 375 species of wild animals in the forest including the world famous Bengal Tiger, Chitra and Maya deer. In this regard, East Sundarbans Division (Bagerhat) sent a proposal to the Chief Conservator of Forest (CCF), through the Forest Conservator of Khulna region. Wildlife protection department of the forest department is positively observed the proposal aiming for reproduction of wild animals in the world's largest mangrove forest. 

Amir Hossain Chowdhury said we are not making any decision now. We will discuss with experts who work on the Sundarbans, environmentalists, and different organizations in this regard. After the discussion, the proposal will be sent to the ministry. Later, steps will be taken according to the ministry's decision.
