The High Court has stayed the decision of curtailing five marks each of examinees appearing in MBBS admission test for the second time.

An HC bench comprising justice M Enayetur Rahim and justice Md Jahangir Hossain passed the order on Tuesday.

Besides, the court also issued a rule asking the authorities concerned why the governments decision to deduct marks from second time admission seekers would not be declared “illegal” and “unlawful”.

Health secretary, director general of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), director (Medical Education and Health Manpower Development), chairman of the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) and Dhaka University’s vice-chancellor were asked to reply the rule within four weeks.

On 27 August, the Supreme Court lawyer Eunus Ali Akand filed the petition with the HC challenging the governments decision.
