Former UP member hacked dead in Pabna

Former member of a union parishad was hacked to death by assailants at Shibpur village of Atgharia upazila in Pabna on Tuesday night.

The deceased is Abu Daud, 45, son of late Latif Munshi and former member of Ward No 8 in Ekdanta union of the upazila.

Anwarul Islam, officer-in-charge of Atgharia Police Station, said victim’s family members said Abu Daud was returning home from Shibpur Bazar around 10.30 pm.

When he reached bridge area, miscreants swooped on him with sharp weapons and fled the scene, leaving him injured critically.

Hearing his screaming, locals rushed to the spot and took the injured to Pabna General Hospital where duty doctor declared him dead.

On information, police sent the body to morgue for an autopsy.

Investigation is going on to trace the killers, OC Anwar said, adding that the motive behind the killing is not known yet.

The process is underway to file a murder case.
