SC extends stay on mobile court by 3 weeks

The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday extended for three more weeks the stay on the High Court (HC) order that declared illegal running mobile courts by executive magistrates.

A five-member bench of the Appellate Division led by acting chief justice Abdul Wahhab Miah passed the order.

The apex court came up with the order as the state represented by attorney general Mahbubey Alam pleaded time in the case.

Earlier, on 11 May, the High Court declared illegal of the operation of mobile court by the executive magistrate and later on 14 May after hearing on a government appeal the chamber judge stayed until 18 May.

On 21 May, the SC adjourned the verdict of the High Court till 2 July.

Later, the SC extended the time for several times.
