‘Arms trader’ held with pistol in Chapainawabganj

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested an alleged arms trader along with a pistol and bullets from Shahapur Munshipara village in Shibganj upazila early Saturday. 

Squadron leader Md Sayeed Abdulalh Al-Murad, commanding officer of Rab-5 Chapainawabgnaj camp, said sensing presence of a patrol team of Rab in the area, Mohammad Babu, 30, son of Sayedur Rahman of Shahapur Munshipara village, tried to flee. 

The elite force members chased him and arrested him along with one pistol, one magazine and four rounds of bullet. During primary interrogation, Babu admitted that he had long been involved in arms trading, the Rab commander added.

A case was filed with Shibganj police station.
