1 held with 58 gold bars at Dhaka airport

Customs intelligence officials today seized 58 gold bars and detained one man in this connection at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The detainee Alam, 45, a construction worker from Comilla district, came in at 9:00am this morning from Bahrain, said a press release issued in this regard.
Tipped off, Alam was intercepted at the green channel around 10:30am. The gold bars, weighing 6.7 kilogrammes and worth Tk 3.35 crore, was seized from him.
Alam told the customs intelligence officials that his friend Haider, who lived in Bahrain, gave the gold, wrapped in a blanket, to him for reaching it at Haider’s village home.
The detainee has been handed over to police.
