At least 10 activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), a front organisation of ruling Awami League (AL), were injured in an intra-party clash over establishing supremacy on Comilla Medical college campus early today.

Of the injured, Taufique and Irfanul were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with head injuries, said Abu Salam Mia, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Model Police Station.

The names of other injured medical students are yet to be known.

The clash ensued at Sheikh Russel Hall around 2:30am between two rival groups loyal to former president of BCL’s Comilla Medical College unit Abdul Hannan and another former president of the unit Habibur Rahman, OC Abu Salam said.

Contacted, the Principal of Comilla Medical College Mohsin-Uz-Zaman said, “We have already informed the local lawmaker and law enforcers about the clash”.

A meeting of the academic council will be held in this regard later in the day, he said.

No case has been lodged in this connection yet.
