Strict enforcement of Consumer's Rights Protection Law stressed

Strict enforcement of the Consumers' Rights Protection Law- 2009, regular market monitoring and controlling antibiotics in agriculture sector could free common people from health hazards.

These views were expressed at concluding ceremony of a day-long seminar organised by the divisional administration at its conference room in the city on 'Consumers' Rights Protection Law- 2009' for its proper implementation on Thursday.

Rangpur Divisional Department of National Consumer Rights Protection extended cooperation in arranging the seminar with Additional Divisional Commissioner (Revenue) Minu Sheel in the chair.

Divisional Commissioner (Additional Secretary) Kazi Hassan Ahmed attended and addressed the seminar as the chief guest.

Deputy Director of the Divisional Department of National Consumer Rights Protection Khondker Mohammad Nurul Amin and Superintendent of Police for Reserve Police of Rangpur Range Abdur Rashid addressed as special guests.

Assistant Director at Divisional Department of National Consumer Rights Protection Mamtaz Begum elaborated her observations over the law as well as its performances since 2010 in Rangpur division at the seminar moderated by Assistant Director Afsana Parveen.

Divisional Deputy Directors of the Departments of Animal Resources, Food, Health and Agriculture Extension and Additional District Magistrates from all over Rangpur division, Chamber leaders, NGO executives and civil society members participated the seminar.

The speakers called for raising adequate public awareness, strict enforcement of the Consumers' Rights Protection Law to protect the consumers' rights through freeing the human body from any kind of food poisoning, other contamination and hazards.

The chief guest laid emphasis on making the common citizens as well as business community people for adopting effective measures to ensure healthy atmosphere in the local markets and stop supplying adulterated and poisonous foods.

He ordered the Additional District Magistrates to ensure strict implementation of the Consumers' Rights Protection Law- 2009.
