Jatiya Party national council tomorrow

The 8th national council of Jatiya Party (Ershad) will be held in the city tomorrow.

More than one lakh people, including 50,000 councilors and delegates, are expected to attend the conference to be held at the Institution of Engineers auditorium and adjoining Suhrawardi Udyan, party Presidium Member Sunil Shuva Roy told BSS today. 

The inaugural session and general conference will be held from 10 am to 2 pm and then the main conference will begin with the councilors.

Sunil Shuva Roy said the Awami League and all component parties of the ruling grand alliance have been invited to the council.

Besides, heads of diplomatic missions in Dhaka have been invited, he added.

Enthusiasm has been created among leaders and activists across the country centering the national council, the presidium member said and added that the party will start a new journey through this council.

The Jatiya Party will take part in all future polls, including the parliamentary elections, under the leadership of the committee to be formed through this council.

The secretary general of the party was changed over holding this council and party chief H.M Ershad made opposition leader Begum Raoshan Ershad senior co-chairman to maintain unity of the party.

Earlier, party Chairman H.M Ershad made his younger brother GM Quader the party's co-chairman. 

The Jatiya Party was formed 30 years ago on January 1 in 1986.
