One held, govt medicines seized in Faridpur

Police seized a huge quantity of stolen government medicines and arrested one from West Khabashpur area in front of Faridpur Medical College Hospital (FMCH) of the town on Friday.
The arrested was identified as Sarwar, hailed from Dhuldi of Sadar upazila of the district.
Police said, on a tip-off, they nabbed Sarwar with a sack and a bag from the FMCH area. After searching the containers they found a huge quantity of medicines, including various types of anti-biotics and other life saving drugs meant for the patients.
The seized drugs worth about Taka 50 thousand were taken to the local market for selling, the sources added.
During primary interrogations, Sarwar acknowledged his involvement with the crime and said he had been doing this in nexus with government hospital staff for a long time.
A case was filed with the concerned police station in this connection.
