Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has been interrogating Deputy Inspector General Mizanur Rahman over amassing wealth illegally, among other corruption allegations.

ACC Deputy Director Farid Ahmed Patwary started the interrogation at the commission’s Segunbagicha office in Dhaka at 9:00am, said a source this morning.

In a letter sent to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) on April 25, the anti-graft watchdog asked DIG Mizan to appear at its office today.

In the letter, ACC requested the IGP to take necessary steps to ensure presence of Mizan at its office on the stipulated date and time.

Mizan was withdrawn as the Additional Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and attached to the Police Headquarters on January 10.

On July 15 last year, Mizan allegedly picked up 25-year-old Moriam Akter Eko from in front of her Panthapath house and then forcibly married her, according to a statement of Moriam's mother Queen Talukdar.

In the statement sent to different media outlets, Queen Talukdar also alleged that her daughter was implicated in a false case and was jailed for three weeks. She got out of prison on bail a week ago.

Earlier in December last year, the same police official's name surfaced in the media for allegedly picking up a female news presenter of a private television channel at gunpoint.
