Case filed over Faridpur double murder

A case has been filed over the recovery of the bodies of a female college teacher and a bank officer from a flat of a two-storey building at Dakkhin Jhiltuli in the district town.

Afsari Hossain, paternal aunt of the female victim, filed a murder case with Kotwali Police Station accusing some unidentified people.

Earlier on Monday, police recovered the bodies of Sajia Begum, 34, an assistant professor of Home Economics at Government Sarda Sundory Mohila College and Faruk Hossain, 38, principal officer of Motijheel branch of Sonali Bank Ltd in the capital, from his flat.

Meanwhile, police have shown arrested the female victim’s husband Sheikh Shahidul Islam, a machinery parts trader and a resident of Dhaka’s Sutrapur, after the case was filed, said AFM Nasim, officer-in-charge of the police station.

Earlier just after the recovery of the bodies, police detained Shahidul for interrogation, said the OC. 

Besides, teachers, students and guardians of the college staged demonstration and submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner and superintendent of police protesting the murder here on Tuesday.

They also demanded immediate arrest and punishment of the criminals.
