Chattogram BCL leader Roni sent to jail in extortion case

A court here on Monday sent ex-general secretary of Chittagong city unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League(BCL) leader Nurul Azim Rony to jail in an extortion case.
Additional chief metropolitan magistrate Osman Goni sent him to jail his denying his petition for extending bail.
Osman Goni filed the bail petition as his four-week bail expired on Monday, said Kazi Sahabuddin Ahmed, assistant commissioner of Police (prosecution) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police.
Jahed Khan, principal of Chittagong Science College, filed the case with Chawkbazar police station accusing Nurul Azim Rony and his followers for demanding extortion and assaulting him on April 6.
Jahed Khan was allegedly assaulted by Nurul Azim Rony on March 31 at Chittagong Science College in Chawkbazar area.
The incident came to light after a CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media.
Rony allegedly assaulted the college principal for ‘realising extra money from HSC examinees’.
