Six persons, including five admission seekers and one parent, were held on charge of forgery during the admission test of Dhaka University’s ‘Ka’ unit today.

The identities of the detainees were not revealed by the authorities immediately.

The DU authorities said the detainees have confessed to their involvement in the offence.

“Two students were held with electronic device at an exam centre. They have been kept in custody of the proctorial team. Parent of one of the two students was also held in this connection,” said DU Proctor Dr AKM Golam Rabbani.

“Three other students were also held in three other exam centres over similar allegations,” he added.

The DU proctor alleged that some coaching centres are behind such fraudulent activities during the admission tests.

“We have enough evidence in this regard. We will reveal everything after completing investigation,” he said.

The honours first year admission test of DU’s ‘Ka’ unit (Science Faculty) was held today at 84 centres. The exam began at 10:00am and continued for one and half hour.

A total of 81,096 candidates are vying for 1,750 seats in the ‘Ka’ unit this year.

Students had to answer multiple choice questions (MCQs) worth 120 marks in the test.

Students were, as usual, not allowed with any kind of electronic deviceat the exam centres. All students were subjected to search using metal detectors before entering the exam centres.
