JMB man placed on 5 day remand in Ctg

A Chittagong court on Tuesday granted five-day remand to Bulbul Ahmed alias Fuad, Chittagong's second-in-command of the banned militant outfit of Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), in a murder case.

The court of Metropolitan Magistrate Harunur Rashid granted the five-day remand to Bulbul after the investigation officer Aheatamul Islam of Police Bureau Investigation, prayed for a seven-day remand in a murder case filed with the city's of Bakalia thana in May in 2015, court sources said. 

Bulbul was arrested when detectives of Chittagong Metropolitan Police led by its Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Babul Akter in a raid recovered eight hand grenades and huge quantity of bomb-making materials from a JMB den at Khoaznagar area in the city's Karnaphuli Thana and arrested five JMB men on October 5 in 2015.

Earlier, two alleged snatchers were killed on the spot when the snatchers exploded hand grenades during a snatching incident at Majhirghat area under city's Sadarghat thana on September 23, 2015.
