11th general election now on December 30: CEC

Election Commission has declared new polls schedule, deferring the general election by a week to December 30 and extending the nomination filing deadline to November 28.

Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda made the announcement at a programme in Dhaka’s Bangabandhu International Conference Centre this afternoon.

He said, the revision has been made in consideration of requests made by opposition political parties BNP and others. “We welcome their participation.”

The change comes four days after the Election Commission announced the polls schedule of the 11th parliamentary elections and several opposition parties demanding a delay.
