At least three people were killed and seven others injured in a clash over a land-related dispute at Gilabari in Aditmari upazila on Tuesday morning.

The deceased were Jalil Miah, 50, son of Jalal Miah, Golam Rabbani, 45, son of Abdur Gafur and Sahidur Rahman, son of Asir Uddin of Gilabari village.

Masud Rana, officer-in-charge of Aditmari Police Station, said there had been a long standing dispute between Khalek Munshi and Jalil Miah over the ownership of a piece of land.

Sequel to the enmity, the supporters of Khalek swooped on Jalil around 7:30 am that triggered a fierce clash between the groups.

The clash left Jalil dead on the spot and nine others injured, he said.

Among the injured, Rabbani and Sahidar succumbed to their injuries after they were taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
