The weeklong “Income Tax Fair” has kicked off this morning aiming to provide better services to the taxpayers and include more taxpayers in the tax net.

The fair, taking place for the ninth consecutive year, was inaugurated by Finance Minister AMA Muhith at Officers’ Club in Dhaka at 10:00am.

Old and new taxpayers have gathered since morning for submitting tax return and paying taxes.

New taxpayers can collect e-TINs (electronic tax identification numbers) at the fair while other taxpayers can collect e-TINs through re-registration.

Separate booths have been set up for e-payment and for freedom fighters, women, people with disabilities and elderly taxpayers at the fair.

November 30 has been fixed as the last day for submitting the income tax return for individual taxpayers.

During the last two years, the fair was held at NBR office in Agargaon. To avoid traffic jam due to the ongoing construction of metro rail, it has shifted the fair venue, NBR had said earlier.
