Saima to present papers at 5th WAO Congress in Texas

Chairperson of Shuchona Foundation Saima Wazed Hossain will present two separate papers at the 5th World Autism Organization International (WAO) Congress 2018 being held from November 12-15, 2018 at Houston in Texas.

Saima Hossain will be presenting papers on ‘Autism Around the World’ and ‘Effective Strategies for Addressing the Diversified Learning Needs of Students in Mainstream Classrooms’, said a press release here today.

The conference is jointly hosted by associations from Texas and Mexico along with collaboration of the Autism Society of America and professionals from the Texas Medical Center supported by WAO.

The congress is offering comprehensive program of distinguished speakers to people with autism, their families, friends and relevant professionals.

The release said in addition, Nazish Arman and Ashley Adkins from Shuchona Foundation will be presenting papers at the Congress, where Malka Shamrose, COO of Shuchona is participating as well.

The theme of this year’s WAO Congress is “Closing the Gap” which aims to facilitate opportunities where service providers, professionals and families are sharing their knowledge, experiences and support with each other.

Discussions are also taking place on diverse topics related to latest research, enhancing practical skills and personal experiences.

Prior to her participation in the WAO, Chairperson of Shuchona, Saima W. Hossain visited Lima, Peru from November 4-11 to develop the supported employment program for Persons with Neurodevelopmental Disorders (PwNDDs) in Bangladesh in collaboration with Centro Ann Sullivan del Peru (CASP).

CASP is a non-profit educational organization which has about 40 years of experience in conducting successful community- based programs that provide employment to persons with NDDs.

In addition to the CASP visit, the Shuchona team also visited the Congress of the Republic of Peru and various supported employment businesses. They also observed training centers and classrooms integrated with supported employment program supplemented by thorough discussions.

Saima W. Hossain, a licensed School Psychologist, is the Chairperson of the National Advisory Committee on Autism and NDDs, International Focal Point of the Advisory Group on Disability and Disaster Risk Management, Ministry of Disaster Management, and WHO’s Goodwill Ambassador for Autism in the South East Asia Region.
