Oikyafront to contest polls with 'sheaf of paddy' symbol

The newly formed political alliance Jatiya Oikyafront will contest the upcoming general election with the symbol of sheaf of paddy (election symbol of BNP).
Nagorik Oikya Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna told reporters about the decision of the alliance this afternoon following a meeting at the chamber of Dr Kamal Hossain, the leading man of the alliance.
HOW WAS OIKYAFRONT LAUNCHED?
On October 13, BNP together with Dr Kama Hossain-led Jatiya Oikya Prokriya, JSD and Nagorik Oikya launched the Jatiy Oikyafront to press for their seven-point demand.
Later, Krishak Sramik Janata League, led by Kader Siddiqui, joined the alliance
WHAT ARE THE DEMANDS OF OIKYAFRONT?
The Oikyafront's seven-point demand includes installation of a neutral interim government, dissolution of parliament, reconstitution the Election Commission, release of all the political prisoners, deployment of army and cancellation of the move to use Electronic Voting Machines (EVMS) for holding the next polls in fair and acceptable manner.
WHEN IS THE ELECTION?
Election Commission revised polls schedule on Monday, November 12, deferring the 11th general election by a week to December 30.
The authorities have fixed November 28 as the deadline for filing nomination papers, December 2 for scrutiny and December 9 last date of withdrawal.
The move came following demands from several opposition political parties.
