The High Court today directed former Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka’s son Ishraque Hossain and daughter Sarika Sadeque to surrender before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court in Dhaka in four weeks in connection with two separate corruption cases.

The HC bench of justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice KM Hafizul Alam passed the order after rejecting their bail petitions.

Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik told The Daily Star that the HC also refused to pass any order on their pleas seeking direction upon police not to harass or arrest Ishraque and Sarika in connection with the cases.

Yesterday, Ishraque, a BNP aspirant in the upcoming national election, and his sister Sarika appeared before the bench, seeking anticipatory bail.

The Anti-Corruption Commission filed two cases against the siblings with Ramna Police Station in 2010 for not submitting wealth statements.

Besides, A Dhaka court yesterday sentenced former Dhaka City Corporation mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka and three others to 10 years' imprisonment in absentia in a graft case.
