Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Tuesday alleged that BNP traded nomination papers in exchange of money for the upcoming general election.

Quader made the allegation at the Awami League president's Dhanmondi political office here.

Quoting Quader UNB said, "BNP leaders were engaged in nomination trade. The people who didn't get the party tickets despite giving money are now looking for the BNP leaders. This is why the leaders who took money are now on the run ...there's no political issue."

Quader, who is also the Road, Transport and Bridges Minister, said, "BNP has been conspiring to destabilise the election atmosphere to quit the election. So, the party is trying to use the issue of Tabligh Jamaat and many others as they have no ability to wage any movement."

About BNP's allegation that the government is out to annihilate the Zia family, he said, "The court and the EC have taken actions against Khaleda Zia and BNP leaders. Awami League didn't influence it in any away."

Quader went on to say, "They were also engaged in the August 15 killing. They rewarded the murderers again and reinstated them in politics. Even they tried to kill Awami League president Sheikh Hasina and its senior leaders through the 21stAugust grenade attack during their tenure."
