Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said the prime minister wants to invite the 75 political parties, which took part in pre-election talks, at Gono Bhaban for exchanging greetings, not for any dialogue.

Quader said this at a meeting of Dhaka city unit AL this afternoon, a day after he said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina would invite the political parties at the Gono Bhaban for a dialogue.

“We are not inviting anyone for a dialogue here. There will be no talks, only exchanging of greetings,” he said while addressing as the chief guest at the meeting at the party’s central office.

The meeting was organised in the purview of the party’s celebration of its grand win. The AL will celebrate its landslide victory in the 11th parliamentary elections in Dhaka on January 19.

Meanwhile, responding to yesterday’s remarks of Quader, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said the Jatiya Oikyafront would decide whether it would sit for a fresh round of talks with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina once the agenda is set.

“The issue of scraping the election must have to be there as an agenda and then we will consider about the talks,” Fakhrul also spokesperson of the Oikyafront said while talking to reporters after offering prayers at the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) in Sylhet.
