Man ‘kills self’ in Sylhet

A man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his house at Alapur village in Balaganj upazila on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Chad Mia Ranu, 45, son of late Sekandar Ali.

Quoting family members, Sadikur Rahman, sub-inspector of Balaganj Police Station, said that Chad Mia hanged himself from the beam of his room around 2:30 pm with a scarf. He had been suffering from mental illness, he said.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital for an autopsy.
