BNP’s popularity declines due to its negative politics: Hasan Mahmud

Claiming that its popularity has plummeted to the lowest level for its negative politics, Information Minister Hasan Mahmud on Friday urged BNP to do positive politics.

“BNP’s popularity has hit the lowest level for its negative politics which was proved in the last general election,” he said while addressing a memorial meeting on the Shaheed Minar premises in the port city.

The North unit of city Awami League organised the programme in memory of its late president Nurul Alam Chowdhury.

Criticising BNP’s decision not to attend the Prime Minister's tea party, the information minister said, “It’s quite normal that BNP won’t go to the PM’s party as they didn’t open the door of the party office to Sheikh Hasina when she went to express her sympathy over the death of BNP chief’s younger son Koko. The Prime Minister had waited there for 10 minutes.”

He further said, “It’s natural that the party the chief of which changes the date of her birth to make mockery of the August 15 massacre and cuts cake on the day to encourage the killers won’t go to the Prime Minister's tea party.”

The AL leader urged BNP to come forward to take the country forward. “We’ve extended our hands, so you should do so. Only then your politics will survive.”

City Awami League acting president Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury presided over the meeting. 

Among others, former Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, MP, Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Javed, Chittagong City Corporation Mayor AHM Nasir Uddin, Deputy Education Minister Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Naoufel and Zilla Parishad Chairman Abdus Salam spoke on the occasion.
