5 ‘fake cops’ held in Shariatpur

Police arrested five ‘fake policemen’ while collecting extortion money in Gosairhat upazila early Sunday.
The arrestees are Mohammad Ali, 38, Selim Sardar, 35, Jamal Sardar, 35, Mintu Rari, 35, and Sharif Molla, 30, residents of the upazila.
Selim Reza, officer-in-charge of Gosairhat Police Station, said the arrestees identifying themselves as police, intercepted a fish-laden vehicle on Patti Bridge and demanded tolls from the driver around 5 am.
On information, police went to the spot and arrested them.
