Barrister Abdur Razzaq today resigned from Jamaat-e-Islami citing that “Jamaat did not seek apology to the countrymen for its activities against the independence of Bangladesh in 1971”.

Jamaat’s failure to reform its political ideologies in light of the 21st century like other Muslim majority countries is another reason for his resignation, Abdur Razzak said in his resignation letter.

He said, “I have stated in my resignation letter all the reasons behind my registration. I have not received any response from the Jamaat leaders in this regard yet.”

The Jamaat leader submitted the letter today addressing the party’s Ameer Maqbul Ahmed.
