‘Drug trader’ killed in Meherpur ‘gunfight’

A suspected drug trader was killed in a ‘gunfight’ between two groups of drug traders at Kazipur village in Gangni upazila early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Saju, 35, son of Bazlur Rahman of the village.

Ajay Kumar Kundu, sub-inspector of Pirtola Police Outpost, said that on information about a gunfight between two groups of drug traders, a team of police conducted the drive around 2:30am.

Sensing the presence of police, the drug traders fled the scene.

Later, police recovered the bullet-hit body of Saju, said the SI adding that he was an accused in several drug cases.
