Zillur Rahman’s 6th death anniversary being observed

The sixth death anniversary of former President Zillur Rahman and one of the close associates of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is being observed today.

Zillur Rahman also a veteran politician, a Language Movement hero and an organiser of the Liberation War, died at a Singaporean hospital on March 20, 2013.

He started his political career as a volunteer of Awami League and was inducted as the 19th president of the country on February 12, 2009. He discharged his responsibilities as general secretary of Awami League for 12 years in five different terms.

Bangladesh Awami League, its associate bodies, other like-minded organisations and socio-cultural and professional bodies have chalked out various programmes to pay homage to the late leader.

The programmes included placing of wreaths at 8 am at Banani graveyard and milad mahfil at his Gulshan residence in the city.

All relatives and well-wishers have been requested to attend the milad.
