HC asks for names of companies marketing contaminated milks

The High Court asked for names of the companies marketing adulterated milk which is injurious to human body.

Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) and Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA) will have to provide the list of the companies.

A division bench comprising Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice KM Hafizul Alam passed the order on Wednesday.

Representatives from the two organizations appeared before the High Court on Wednesday along with a report which lacks names of the companies marketing contaminated milks. The list was also silent about milk producers excluding BSTI licensed 14 companies.

So, the High Court wants the next report to be obsessed with names of all companies and other relevant information.

Meanwhile, the apex court directed Dhaka North City Corporation and Dhaka South City Corporation to take immediate step to control dust, mosquito and other environmental and health hazards.

Engineers of two city corporations appeared before the court with explanation that Dhaka city being temporarily polluted due to road digging for metro rail and other development works.

At this stage, the High Court directed the city authorities to take necessary steps to control dusts and mosquito and submit a compliance report within a month.
