The complications arising over the formation of Bangladesh Chhatra League's new committee will be resolved shortly, Awami League general secretary and road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader said on Saturday.

"Talks are going on with all the quarters involved," Quader told reporters after visiting the Mohakhali Bus Terminal in the capital.

The BCL is the student wing of ruling Bangladesh Awami League. A 301-member committee of BCL was announced on 13 May, which was rejected by members who either did not get any posts or the desired ones in the new committee.

They staged sit-in demonstrations on the Dhaka University campus demanding a new committee.

The prime minister has assigned four leaders to solve the problems over the formation of the committee, internal clash and organisational crises, Quader said.

"Discussions are being held with the [BCL] committee members as well as the disgruntled party activists. We hope the problem will soon be over," he added.
