Prevention of dengue: WHO to work with DSCC

The World Health Organisation (WHO) will work with Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) in preventing diseases like dengue, chikungunya of the capital.

A delegation of WHO informed this at a meeting with DSCC mayor Sayeed Khokon at his Banani residence in the capital on Saturday.   

The five-member delegation headed by acting representative of WHO in Bangladesh Dr Edwin Saniza Salvador sat in the meeting with the DSCC mayor today.

Talking to journalists, Dr Edwin Saniza Salvador said, “We wish to work with City Corporation, Health Ministry and other public organisations to prevent mosquito menace. As part of that programme, we have sat for the meeting with mayor where and shared experiences and work plan.”  

Mayor Sayeed Khokon said, “The dengue situation has deteriorated compared to last several years, although it is still under control. There is no alternative to create awareness in this regard.”
