The High Court (HC) has asked for all records relating to appointment of six government officials as individual consultants to the Urban Public and Environmental Health Sector Development Project (UPEHSDP) of the ministry of local government.

The court also issued a rule asking the government authorities concerned to explain in four weeks why such appointments should not be declared illegal.

The HC came up with the order following a writ petition filed by an aggrieved person named MD Kamal Hossain.

Secretaries of under the ministry of local government, rural development and cooperatives (LGRDC), local government division (LGD), project director, deputy project director, assistant project director and 6 other individual consultants of the UPEHSDP were made respondents to the rule.

The HC asked the respondents to explain under what authority six individual consultants are holding posts under the project of the LGRDC.
