Court orders confiscation of 8 fugitives wealth

A Barguna court on Thursday ordered authorities to confiscate all the properties of 8 fugitives in a case filed over the murder of Rifat Sharif in broad daylight.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Sirajul Islam Gazi issued the order this morning.

The accused were identified as Md Musa, Mohaiminul Islam Sifat, Rakibul Hasan, Rifat Hawlader, Abu Abdullah Rayhan, Md Nayem, Md Rakibul Hasan Niamat, Md Sayed Maruf Billah alias Muhibullah and Prince Mollah.

Rifat, 22, was hacked to death by criminals, in front of his wife Ayesha Siddika Minni, in broad daylight in the district town on June 26.

The incident was caught on surveillance camera. Video footage of the gruesome killing caused a stir online, and sparked outrage across the country.

Following the murder, Rifat's father had filed a case with Barguna Sadar police.
