Accused Moaz in Abrar murder case arrested in capital

Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) detained one more accused in BUET student Abrar Fahad murder case from Uttara area of the capital on Saturday morning.

The arrestee Moaz Abu Hurairah, 20, is a 17th batch student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) Department, of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).

Confirming this to media, Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), said, “Arrestee Moaz has been arrested from Uttara sector-14 area around 11:00 am and he is among 19 accused in the Abrar murder case filed by his father.”

 

With this fresh arrest of Moaz, a total of 19 accused have so far been held in connection with the Abrar murder case.

Abrar Fahad, 21, a student of electrical and electronic engineering department, was beaten to death reportedly by BCL leaders at Sher-e-Bangla Hall of the university.

He was found dead on the staircase of the dormitory early Monday.

Abrar’s father Barkatullah filed the case with Chawkbazar Police station on Monday evening accusing 19 people.

The case was transferred to the Detective Branch of police on Tuesday for investigation.
