Warning those, who are trying to commit robbery in the Sundarbans, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Friday said no wrongdoers will be spared.

“The government is committed to maintaining the existing peaceful situation at the Sundarbans. We will uphold this at any cost,” he said.

The minister came up with the remarks while addressing the first anniversary programme of declaring the Sundarbans bandit-free at the Sheikh Helal Uddin Studium in Bagerhat.

Kamal said, “We are extending our assistances to those, who have returned to normal lives responding to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s call. We are also ensuring all arrangements so that they can lead their normal lives.”

The government will exempt the surrendered bandits from the lawsuits, the minister added.

The government declared the Sundarbans, the world's largest coastal mangrove forest, free of bandits on November 1 last year.
