Mantu, Khasru new president, gen secy of Sramik League

Fazlul Haque Mantu and KM Ajam Khasru were elected president and general secretary of Bangladesh Jatiya Sramik League (BJSL) respectively for next two years on Saturday.

Moreover, Molla Abul Kalam was made executive president of the organisation

Ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader announced names of the next leaders of Sramik League, ruling Awami League’s associate body of peasants, at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh in the capital.

 

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the 13th national conference of Bangladesh Jatiya Sramik League (BJSL), the labour wing of Bangladesh Awami League (AL), by releasing pigeons and balloons at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital this morning.

More than 15,000 councilors and delegates from 78 district units across the country along with the Sramik League’s central committee leaders joined the conference. Besides, a number of foreign guests including labour leaders, participated in the programme.

At the last conference of the Sramik League on July 19 in 2012, labor leader Sukur Mahmud and Sirajul Islam were elected president and general secretary respectively of the body.

Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman founded the organisation, the largest labour organization in the country, on October 12 in 1969.
