Road transport owners and workers ' representatives have declared the removal from Thursday morning of their continuing work abstention.

The announcement came on Thursday's first hour at 12:45 a.m. (Wednesday night) after a long meeting with the home minister and other government stakeholders.

Road transport industry leaders vowed to end their unannounced strike as some parts of the legislation were agreed by the government to amend.

The Home Ministry should submit a report to the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges to review some of the law's legal issues.

The government also gave road transport drivers seven months (by June 30) to update their entire tool. Until then, with current instruments, they will be allowed to continue their research.

Until then with existing instruments, they will be allowed to continue their work.

"We revoked our abstention from work as the home minister gave us assurance that some demands would be fulfilled. He told us some sections of the Road Transport Act-2018 will be reviewed by the government, " Rustam Ali Khan added after the meeting.

The owners and workers of various categories of road transport went on an indefinite strike in the name of abstention from work last Sunday as the authorities began to enact the new law of road transport.

Branding the new law on road transport as an anti-worker interest, they stopped driving busses, trucks and vehicles throughout the country and placed 9-point demand on the government.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal sat on Wednesday night to negotiate the continuing indefinite strike with the owners and workers of buses, trucks and closed cars.

The meeting began at the residence of his Dhanmondi at 9:20 p.m. Also present at the meeting were the representatives of the Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association, along with the goods-transport leaders, and high officials of the transport authority BRTA. The meeting lasted until 12:30 am.

Bangladesh Truck Covered-van Goods Transport Owners Workers Unity Council earlier on Tuesday called for an indefinite strike across the region, calling for a change to the new Road Transport Act-2018.
