BCL leader’s two bodyguards killed in Satkhira

Two local Chhatra League leader bodyguards were killed early Saturday in a suspected gunfight with police in the Kamalnagar area near Satkhira city bypass road.

The deceased were identified as Dwip, 25, son of Munjitpur village of Moinul Islam in Satkhira town and Saiful Islam, 30, of Ashashuni upazila village of Saihati.

Both of the deceased was identified as district bodyguard Syed Sadikur Rahman, general secretary of the BCL.

Police superintendent Md Mostafizur Rahman said they arrested Dwip and Saiful on Friday for snatching Tk 26 lakh from a Kaliganj upazila Bkash business employee.

The police took the duo to get the money back. The SP added that when they reached Kamalnagar area around 3 am, the criminal associates opened fire to snatch them, leading to a gunfight.

They were trapped in the fire line, he said, and died on the spot.

From the place was recovered two weapons, four cartridges, two knives and a bike.
