Acid attack on madrasa girl; two arrested in Pabna

Two youths were arrested by police on Staurday for reportedly throwing acid at Chatmohor in Pabna on a madrasa resident.

The survivor, 14-year-old Sabura Khatun is a daughter of Salilur Rahman of Bangram Paschim Chalkpara village of Chatmohor upazila Parshawdanga Union and a ten-class student of Bangram Beniagazi Dhakhil Madrasa.

On Friday night, the barbaric incident took place.

She was admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital for better treatment, according to media reports, as she suffered severe injuries to various parts of the body including her right hand.

The victim's father filed a case against two youths from the same village under the Acid Control Act on Saturday morning.

Sabura's family sources claimed that in many cases the arrested used to torment the village women. For a few days, they had harassed Sabura on her way to her madrasa. They gave Sabura a love proposal at one point. And they committed such a henous act after being refused.  

Speaking to the reporter, the officer-in-charge (OC) of the Chatmohor Police Station, Sheik Nasir Uddin, said they were reported the youth threw acid on the student of madrasa.
