The theme of this year's International Day of Persons with Disabilities is "The Future is Accessible."

The Prime Minister stressed the need for special training to be introduced in the country to make disabled people self-dependent.

"In many countries, special training is given to a person with disabilities so that they can move on their own. Such learning can be provided through the Jatiyo Protibondhi Unnayan Foundation. If we can take steps to some degree, in many cases he or she will not have to be dependent on others, "she said.

Sheik Hasina said her government was working towards securing the equality of people with all kinds of disabilities.

She said the government will make arrangements in every upazila to provide training and sports facilities, as well as jobs for the specialized community.

The Prime Minister also ordered the Ministry of Social Welfare to embark on a plan to figure out their own lands for that purpose.
