16 gold bars seized at Dhaka airport

Customs officials confiscated 16 gold bars and 17 4-kg bangles and detained two people last night at the capital's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
According to Sazzad Hossain, assistant commissioner of Dhaka Customs House, acting on a tip-off, a Dhaka Customs House preventive team conducted separate drives in the airport's green channel and seized 16 gold bars and 17 bangles made of gold worth Taka 2 crore from two passengers coming from Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
The arrestees were Syed Ahmed Mallik, 42, and Md Yusuf, 50.
After interrogation, the arrestees were handed over to Airport Police Station, Sazzad said.
