Workers from nine state-owned jute mills who watched an indefinite hunger strike to press home their 11-point demand scheme postponed their program for three days following last night's assurance from Monnujan Sufian, State Labor and Employment Minister.

CBA and non-CBA members Sangram Parishad announced the decision on Saturday at about 1:00am.

Earlier Thursday, at one point of the hunger strike, Abdur Sattar, 55, a Platinum Jute Mills employee, fell sick and died at the Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH).

Since Tuesday, the workers have been protesting to press home their 11-point demand which includes payment of regular wages, cancelation of public-private ownership, necessary funds for the jute sector, insurance for families of deceased workers, provident funds and gratuity facilities for retired workers and regularization of temporary workers.
