Prime Minister for relaxing exams load on primary students

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked the concerned authorities to consider ways to relax the burden of exams on the students of primary school so they can have more time to play.

At the 14th ECNEC meeting of the current fiscal (FY20) held on Tuesday at the NEC Conference Room in the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area of the city, the Premier's instructions arrived.

The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the member of the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC).

Minister of Planning MA Mannan announced Sheikh Hasina's orders when briefing reporters after the conference.

He said, "Loads of exams are hindering our children's harmonious progress. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina claims it (load of exams) puts extra pressure on primary school students tender minds."

The authorities concerned are evaluating the validity of holding primary school completion (PEC) exams. There are many critical discussions about the examinations The Prime Minister gave her approval to the fact that it is a burden for our minor students, Mannan said.

The minister also told that it is under consideration whether or not the completion of primary education (PEC) and its equivalent Ebtedayee exams will take place.

In the meeting to develop the facilities of government primary schools in Dhaka metropolis and Purbachal, a Taka 1159.21 crore project was approved.

A total of nine projects with an estimated total cost of Taka 4,611.62 crore were funded. Of the nine projects accepted, seven are new and two are updated.
