A Dhaka court on Tuesday summoned Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda and 14 others to appear before it on April 2 in two separate cases filed by BNP backed mayoral candidates for DSCC and DNCC Ishraque Hossain and Tabith Awal.

Judge Utpal Bhattacharya of the Election Tribunal in Dhaka passed the order asking them to appear before the court on the fixed date and explain alleged irregularities in the February 1 Dhaka city elections.

Raising allegations of irregularity and corruption in the elections to the DSCC, Ishraque Hossain filed a case with the election tribunal seeking cancellation of its results on the same day.

Earlier on Monday, BNP backed contestant for the DNCC polls Tabith Awal also filed another case with the tribunal demanding cancellation of the recently-held elections to two Dhaka city corporations.
