Italy-returnee dies in Kishoreganj hospital

An Italy-returnee man died in a private hospital in Bhairab upazila of Kishoreganj early Monday.

The man, aged around 60, breathed his last at a private hospital at around 11:00pm, Bulbul Ahmed, member secretary of Bhairab upazila Corona Protection Committee said.

He returned from Italy on February 28 and was suffering from fever, cough and breathing problems for last several day.

The victim was admitted to the hospital on Sunday night and later shifted to a private hospital as his condition deteriorated.

A team of Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) has collected specimens from his body this morning, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) office source said.

Local administration brought 10 houses adjacent to the deceased resident, a hospital and a doctor’s chamber under lockdown.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh on Saturday announced the second COVID-19 death and detection of four new COVID-19 patients, raising the number of such cases in the country to 24.

Bangladesh reported the country’s first death from coronavirus on March 18.

COVID-19 is affecting 188 countries and territories around the world and one international conveyance, the Diamond Princess cruise ship harboured in Yokohama, Japan.
