Highest number of coronavirus cases in last 24 hours, death 21

Reported cases of coronavirus infection crossed the 23,000 mark in Bangladesh as the country registered the highest single-day cases with 1,602 more individuals testing positive over the last 24 hours.

The number of confirmed cases total jumped to 23,870 with the latest figure.

The nation has also experienced the deaths of 21 more Covid-19 people during the same period, bringing the number of deaths in the country to 349.

Prof. Dr. Nasima Sultana, currently serving as Director General of the Health Services Directorate (DGHS), disclosed the details in the regular online health update held on Monday afternoon at the Management Details System (MIS).

In the last 24 hours, 41 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country, tested 9,788 samples, she added.

However, 212 people were cured of the ailment in the last 24-hours, bringing the count to 4,585.

Bangladesh reported its first croronaviurs case on March 8 while first death on March 18.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the coronavirus crisis a pandemic on March 11.
