On Thursday, 20 August, the Dhaka court agreed to hold a hearing on charges against eight men, including JKG Healthcare Chairman Dr Sabrina Arif Chowdhury and her husband Ariful Haque Chowdhury, in a case brought against the issue of false coronavirus test results.

The court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sarafuzzaman Ansari resets the date this morning.

The court also declined to grant bail to all eight of the suspects in the case.

Earlier on 5 August, the Police Detective Branch pressed charges against eight JKG Health Care officials in the case.

The other six accused in the case are: Abu Sayeed Chowdhury, Humayun Kabir Himu, Tanjila Patwari, Biplob Das, Shafikul Islam Romeo and Jebunesa.

Investigation officer (IO) and DB inspector Liakat Ali accused Sabrina and JKG CEO Ariful as the key culprits behind the scam and the others as their cohorts.

One Kamal Hossain filed a case with the Tejgaon Police Station on 15 June for issuing bogus Covid-19 test results.

JKG Healthcare, owned by Ariful and his wife Dr. Sabrina, raised money from suspected coronavirus patients, while the company had entered into a free trial arrangement with the government.

The fraud firm also tampered with the signatures and seals of government departments in creating fake corona test reports while throwing away samples taken from suspected patients.
