The DNA report reported the involvement of sacked gardener Rabiul Islam in the attack on Ghoraghat UNO Wahida Khanom and her father, Omar Ali Sheikh.

Wahida and her father were seriously wounded in the attack, and in the hospital they were battling for life.

In the laboratory of the Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Rabiul's blood-soaked pant and UNO's father's DNA sample were checked.

Sources said the blood on the Rabiul pant matches Omar Ali Sheikh's DNA, bearing testimony to the involvement of the sacked gardener in the incident.

On September 3, Ghoraghat Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Wahida Khanam and her father were assaulted at her government residence.

UNO Wahida was moved to Mirpur CRP hospital for further care after receiving treatment at the neuroscience hospital in Dhaka.

Copies of the report will also be submitted to the Police Department of Dinajpur Detective Branch (DB), which is investigating the case.

Seven persons, including the prime suspect in the case, were previously detained by law enforcers.

Main suspect Asadul Haque, 35, son of Amzad Hossain of Osmanpur in the upazila, was arrested by his accomplices Jahangir Hossain, son of Abul Kalam, Yeasin Ali, 30, driver of the upazila land office, and Arsola Hembram, 38, Upazila Parishad cleaner, Nabirul Islam and Santu Kumar.

Police later arrested Rabiul, calling him the primary planner and principal perpetrator of the attack.
