Journo hacked to death in Narayanganj, 1 held

A journalist was hacked to death on Sunday night in the Bandar region of Naraynagnaj by unidentified miscreants in Adampur.

The deceased was identified as Ilias, a journalist from the Jiodhara region of Dainik Bijoy, the son of Majibar Mia.

On suspicion of involvement in the incident, police arrested Tushar, the leader of the Tushar Gang, identified as a police source, and a sharp knife was recovered from his possession at that time.

Bandar Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Tawhid said the attacks moved the victim away and hacked indiscriminately when Ilias returned home at 8:00 pm, leaving him critically wounded.

Later, he was taken by locals to Narayanganj 100-bed General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by a duty doctor, he said.
